How To Find A Virtual Assistant To Help With Social Media

When you’re looking for a Virtual Assistant to help with social media, you might get confused by all the options and not really know what to look for. Here’s a simple guide on what to look for when you want help with social media accounts.

How To Find A Virtual Assistant To Help With Social Media - Sharyn Munro Virtual Assistance

When you want a Virtual Assistant who can… run your social media

Then look at… their profiles on that social media platform.

It should be:

  • Active – with regular posts for a long period of time
  • Professional – representing their business, not comprising entirely of memes
  • Platforms – do they use the platforms you need them to use

If you’re using an industry niche platform, check out their Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter profiles. If they don’t have at least 2 of those, then they’re probably not a social media expert

If you want a Virtual Assistant who can… create awesome images for your social media accounts

Then look at…their graphic design skills and the images they use on their profiles

They should be:

  • Good quality images with well placed text captions
  • Properly credited or free for commercial use
  • Of a style that suits your business

If they don’t have much happening in the way of images, ask if they are an administrator any other social media accounts that they could use as a reference.

When you want a Virtual Assistant who can… engage your audience

Then look at… how they communicate

Consider:

  • Are they easy to understand?
  • Do they have a style that complements the style of your business? i.e.: Warm and friendly or super professional, formal or informal?
  • Do you find it easy to communicate with them?
  • Do they seem to have a good understanding of what you’re after?

If you want a Virtual Assistant who can… write blog posts and polish up your text

Then look at…their social media accounts, their website and their emails to you

If they are littered with spelling mistakes and terrible grammar, then they probably don’t have the eye for detail and grasp of the language you need.

Note that it doesn’t matter which language you want to use – if the Virtual Assistant doesn’t demonstrate that they are fluent and have an above average grasp on the language, then they’re probably not the right person for this job.

One thing I cannot stress enough is:

Just because a Virtual Assistant doesn’t offer one particular service, it doesn’t mean they’re not a great fit for you in some other way.

So don’t be put off if the person you’re working with isn’t an expert in one area you need help with – task your Virtual Assistant with finding someone who CAN help you out.
