Whether you’re having a big break, just having a few days off, or working throughout the Christmas period you need to acknowledge the holiday season. Here are 5 things to do now for Christmas so you don’t end up in a last minute rush:
1. Organise your Christmas cards & gifts.
Particularly this year with the delays in deliveries you need to get everything sent a week or two earlier than you usually would. So if you’d usually send gifts and cards in mid-December, they really need to be going out in the next week or so.
2. Update your email signature to show your opening hours
Many businesses will be closing at some point over the Christmas / New Year break so it’s a great idea to add your opening hours to your email signature. Even if you’ll be open every day – it’s worth adding that to your signature as it’s not the norm.
3. Update your social media header images and/or profile picture
Add your holiday hours and a seasonal message to your social media header, and give your latest promotion a plug. You can also have some fun with your profile image if you’re so inclined. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, you can always stick with a summer holiday theme. Don’t forget to update your Google My Business page as well
4. Organise your next couple of newsletters so you’re covered until the new year
Nobody wants to spend their holidays writing the next newsletter. So spend a couple of hours during December getting the next few newsletters done and scheduled. Then you can kick back and enjoy your holidays.
5. Update your website with your opening hours and a seasonal greeting
Nothing is worse for customers or suppliers than having to guess whether you’re open. That’s why updating your hours in as many places as possible is such a big message in this post. But along with your Facebook page and Google entry your website is the most likely place people go to find your opening hours. And if you’re listed as open, but when a client visits you’re closed you may lose a client.
Once these things to do now for Christmas are done, you’ll be able to relax a little and focus on finishing up all those end of year tasks that seem to crop up.
