How To Find Blog Topics

If you’re a regular blogger, continually coming up with interesting content can be really difficult.  Here are 5 ways to find blog topics:

Have a plan.

The more planned you are, the less you’ll have to come up with topics at the last minute. I blog monthly on 4 topics, and each month has a theme. My Blog Plan - How To Find Blog Topics - Sharyn Munro Virtual Assistance

Use the questions your clients are asking.

Whenever anyone asks me to send them instructions on how to do something, I make a note. Usually, it will end up as a blog post at some point.

Use questions you see on social media.

Even if the question you see has been answered, note the topic as something to write a blog post about later.  Quora is a great source for topics.

Share some insight.

Give your readers an insight into your business, tell them about how your business works, post staff profiles, share some industry insider tips & tricks, let them know what to look for or how to find a service provider. My Story - How To Find Blog Topics - Sharyn Munro Virtual Assistance

Google Trends.

Check out Google Trends, I find the “related searches” are a particularly good way to find inspiration. Just type in a word or two, you can limit the search geographically, by date, by categories or by type of resource (image, video, news etc).

Now all you need to do is set aside a place to store your ideas, you can use web services like Evernote, Trello or OneNote. I use a master spreadsheet and keep it in Dropbox so I can edit it wherever I happen to be when inspiration strikes.
