Using Facebook Interest Lists to Keep Track of your Friends, Pages and Subscriptions

Interest lists are lists of Facebook Pages, Friends and Subscriptions on a particular topic.  You can create your own lists, or subscribe to other peoples lists.

To create an Interest list click on Add Interests in the Left hand menu of Facebook (you may have to click “More” to get it to display).  When you’re at the Add Interests page, click on “Create List”.  You’ll get a pop-up that allows you to select who you want to include in your list, just click on them to select.  Click Next and you’ll be prompted to Name the list and choose whether you want to share your list with everyone, friends only, or just you.

After you’ve created the list, if you need to make changes or edit in any way, just click on the list name in the left hand menu, then select Manage List.

Once your lists are set, you can add them to the favourites section of your menu, or access them via the Interests menu.  If you block pages or people from showing in your newsfeed, they will still show in your customised interest list, so you can use it to reduce clutter on your newsfeed.  Then when you want to check what’s been happening with your pages, you can check out the relevant Interest lists and get the information when you want it.
