Should I Get A Virtual Assistant To Help With My Marketing?

If you are thinking about getting a Virtual Assistant to help with your marketing, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Should I Get A Virtual Assistant To Help With My Marketing? - Sharyn Munro Virtual Assistance

However, it mostly starts with just one question:

WHAT DO YOU NEED HELP WITH?

Everything

Maybe you should consider a specialist marketing firm. If not, you really need to make sure your Virtual Assistant is a marketing specialist.  There’s no point hiring someone with little marketing experience and expecting great results. Sometimes you might fluke it but mostly, you’ll end up being disappointed.  The other suggestion I’d make is hiring multiple Virtual Assistants to take care of different marketing areas.

Strategy

If you need help with formulating a marketing strategy for your business, then again it’s worth considering using a specialist marketing firm. If you don’t feel you need that much help, make sure your Virtual Assistant has experience formulating marketing strategies, and is able to demonstrate their success.  The Virtual Assistants who are experts in this field will be able to point you towards testimonials from happy clients and will be able to arrange for a satisfied client to talk to you if you have any questions to ask.

Specific social platforms

Check out the Virtual Assistants profile on any social media platforms you’re looking for help with. If you want Facebook help, check the Virtual Assistants Facebook page.  If you want Twitter help, check their Twitter account. Make sure that they have an active profile with regularly posted content. If they also have a super engaged audience then that’s all the better, and people who are great at getting their audience engaged are worth their weight in gold.

Content creation

First of all I’d suggest making sure it’s a service your Virtual Assistant offers (I don’t).  It’s also a good idea to try to find a Virtual Assistant with at least some experience in your area of business, copywriting and/or SEO.  Having a Virtual Assistant turn your dot points into a blog post, or take quotes from your blogs and turn them into eye catching graphics is something you should consider. It’s a service that many Virtual Assistants offer, and do very well. It’s important that whoever you get to create content on your behalf can use the right tone and find the right information to share on your behalf.  I’d suggest working very closely with them at first until they learn exactly what you want.

Scheduling posts

This is totally the sort of thing you should have a Virtual Assistant doing. One of the more time consuming things about marketing online is making everything look right, creating the posts on the relevant social media platform and setting the timing. Then there’s monitoring responses, replying to comments and moderating spam and trolls. It all takes time away from your core business and can be a massive time suck, so it’s an ideal job to outsource.

The most important thing to keep in mind, is that there are a lot of Virtual Assistants out there, and your chances of finding one who does what you need are pretty good. The biggest obstacle to that may well be your understanding of exactly what you need, so it’s imperative to think carefully about what you want before you get started.
