3 Reasons That Mindset Matters When You’re Hiring A Virtual Assistant

You might think that your mindset doesn’t matter when it comes to hiring a Virtual Assistant. Let’s face it, you’re probably going to be pretty stressed. After all that’s what made you realise that you need help.  However you couldn’t be more wrong. Mindset matters a lot, and not just when you’re looking to hire a Virtual Assistant. But even once you’ve hired someone and begun the Virtual Assistant/Client relationship.

If you start the process thinking about how much training is ahead of you; how much could go wrong; and how much you hate letting go of anything to do with your business. Well, then you’re going to sabotage your chances of success.  On the other hand the benefits of a positive mindset include:

A positive attitude makes you more likely to look for solutions to any problems that arise

When you first start working with someone, there are going to be the occasional issue. Whether it’s an instruction that was misunderstood, a different way of doing things that you don’t trust or just an everyday problem that needs to be resolved. If you’re already focused on how hard it’s going to be you’re far more likely to give up at the first sign of trouble. When realistically, if you take the time to form a process with your Virtual Assistant  you’ll gain far more than you’ll risk. It’s just a matter of deciding that it’s worth the time and effort.

A positive attitude makes you more fun to work with for the Virtual Assistant

You might not think that this is a huge issue, but remember that a Virtual Assistant is an independent contractor. If you’re too much of a chore to work with there’s no reason to expect a Virtual Assistant will want to work with you for any length of time. Of course, that’s not the only reason it’s better to have a positive attitude. Being a happy, positive person makes others want to work harder to satisfy you, so there’s more chance a Virtual Assistant will give you the little extras that are the cherry on top of great service.

If you’ve got a good mindset you’re more likely to let go and take full advantage of having more time to focus on other things

Hiring a Virtual Assistant loses a lot of its attraction when you end up spending just as much time worrying that everything is OK and double checking and micromanaging all their work. There are 2 major benefits in working with a Virtual Assistant. The first is having a professional taking care of things in their field. Therefore giving your business an air of greater professionalism. The second is having enough time to spend doing the things that delight you. And being able to spend time with the people who delight you.  If a negative attitude prevents you from letting go, neither of these things will happen.

Lastly (and this has got nothing to do with hiring a VA) nobody enjoys being around a gloomy guts. So if for no other reason, do it for your loved ones. Get your mindset in order before you look into partnering with a Virtual Assistant. Because mindset matters in pretty much everything you do.
